The Wii Fit is different from the Kinect in that you can use it to weight yourself - it will track your weight over time as you progress in your fitness program.  Since the Kinect operates using a camera only, there isn't a way to take a weight measurement.  With the Wii Fit balance board, you can see graphs and charts of your weight, your BMI and other measurements.

The Wii Fit can also track and train for things like balance, with a great variety of exercises that help you improve your stability and posture.  There's even a meditation "game" that helps you center and focus!  With the Wii Fit, you will get many features that just aren't available anywhere else.

Many active adults use the Wii Fit to stay in shape. More seniors are using the Wii Fit to stay strong and active, especially focusing on balance and weight bearing exercise. The Wii has brought a huge new dimension to the world of video gaming with its appeal to so many non-traditional video game users.  The Wii Fit isn't so much a game as it is a part of your fit lifestyle.

Wii Console Bundles Best Price

Since Nintendo lowered the price of the Wii console a few months back, there have been some great deals on the console bundle package.  Nintendo offered a white Wii console, black Wii console, and red Wii console for well under $200, less than the original offering price.  Getting a Wii console is super inexpensive right now. the pricing around the Web has been under $150.  There are several options to purchase the console with different Nintendo games, such as Mario Kart for Wii, or Wii Sports Resort.

You can find a great Wii bundle deal with several different games bundled in. There are bundles with Mario Kart, and with Wii Sports Resort. Certain bundle deals include more than one game, as Nintendo offered a red Wii console with Super Mario Bros and New Super Mario Bros. Or, the Wii console with both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort is still available, in white and black.

Nintendo is releasing a new console in 2012, called the Wii U console. But if you want to buy the console today, prices will likely be even lower this year to get people to buy, look for great holiday deals.  Any Wii games you have today will work on the new console, so if you decide to purchase this year, you will still be able to play your favorite games even if you also purchase the new console next year.  Many buyers have been holding out for lower prices, and with the new console coming out later in 2012, prices for the basic Wii console bundle will most likley drop even further later in the year.

While it's true that there is another Wii console on the horizon, the Wii U, it will likely be priced at a few hundred dollars, more expensive than getting the current Wii.  That's why we're recommending, if you've been holding out on getting a Wii due to price, the best price on Wii you're going to see now are likely the current prices. Nintendo will try to get more buyers on board before the new system comes out.  But some buyers may want to wait until next year to find out where to get the Wii U.   (It's due to be released in 2012, not in time for the Christmas gift season unfortunately.

We'll be writing more about the Wii U in upcoming posts, there are some great features you'll want to consider.  But keep in mind, if you buy a Wii now, the Wii games currently developed for this console, will also work with the new console.

Comparing Wii To Other Consoles

There's been a lot of discussion about which game console is the best, whether it's the Wii, the Xbox or PlayStation 3.  While Nintendo is coming out with a new console in 2012, they are still selling many of the current Wii consoles.  It's also likely that the new Wii U console will be more expensive than the Wii right now, and you can guess that this Wii console will be off the market.

To make the confusion even worse, both Microsoft and Sony are talking about new versions of their game consoles expected in the next year or two, the Xbox 720 and the PlayStation 4.  Some industry watchers are asking the question, do we really need new consoles coming out like this?  With high definition already built into the PlayStation and Xbox, what else will justify paying several hundred dollars on a new game system, for anyone other than the hardcore game fanatic?

Not only that, but are current capabilities even being taken advantage of?  We haven't seen anything for the PlayStation Move recently, for example. Plenty of ads for Kinect on tee vee, but not for the Move, and game choices seem to be fewer than the other two. Developers have at least been making more games for the Xbox Kinect system, including games for it's teen players.

Unlike the other two systems, the Wii focuses more on family games, games for young kids, as well as the standard gaming fare for pre-teens and teens.  Many holdout buyers have been waiting for prices to come down, but right now is the best price on Wii that we've seen in years, if not ever.  We've seen prices for the white Wii bundle as low as $123!  Other than free, that's likely the best price ever.  (Will some great retailer put them on sale at Christmas for just $99? We'll see!)

Getting a Wii now means you won't likely want to buy the next generation Wii next year, but if you do, your Wii games today will be compatible with the new system.  We think the Wii still has some advantages over the other systems in terms of ease of use for "the rest of us" - and that the new Wii U will only continue that trend.
