The Wii Still Rocks!
The Nintendo Wii is still a wonderful game system, even though it came out a number of years ago. It’s actually refreshing to come back to it after playing with some of the competing game systems. The Wii console is easier, it just seems to flow better, in the design and how the games are played. The motion controller is so easy to use, and while some players like the Kinect for being a little more intuitive, waving a Wii controller is simply an easy way to make things happen on the screen. The Wii console in black, white, or red is also more inviting, and friendlier, than the black boxes that are the domain of the “serious” game systems.
The Wii console is truly one of a kind. There are games Nintendo has made that will only work on the Wii, and they are by and large a lot of fun for all ages. Being able to play a game with your ten year old daughter as well as your sixty year old dad is saying something. Many seniors accepted the Nintendo Wii into their homes, where a couple years ago, no one would ever think to put “senior” and “gamer” in the same sentence. Getting seniors to be more active has been a great achievement of the Wii. Getting people more active generally is a great achievement of the Wii, as with the development of the Wii Fit balance board, many more people who didn’t consider themselves gamers went out and bought this console. Having the ability to work out at home and also play games has been a big boost to Nintendo sales.
Now though, the market for game consoles is pretty well saturated, and anyone who has thought of buying one has probably already plunked down their cash. Which is a shame, because prices today are lower than they have ever been, and you can find some great Wii bundle deals hovering around the hundred dollar price point. There’s a good reason to buy now, if you don’t’ already have one, which is to get in on one of the greatest entertainment values ever. You can also use the Wii to stream video from Netflix, which the other consoles were able to do first, but it’s a great benefit if you only buy the Wii. You can also download games, and surf the Web on the Wii, with what is agreeably a very limited browser, but you can do it nonetheless.
The Wii is not over either. Nintendo has announced plans to release the Wii U, the next generation of Wii console, sometime in 2012. This new Wii console has a tablet-like controller that has a whole new level of game play that no other console system has. Again, Nintendo is on the cutting edge, and we’re going to keep you informed.

Why We Still Love The Nintendo Wii
Comparing the different game systems on the market and seeing their differences is pretty obvious, they each have pluses and minuses to their design and features. We happen to like the Wii game console here at Wii Console Deals because it’s simple, easy to set up and play, and the design is sleek and it comes in colors. It just does not have the serious gamer look” which some might think makes it less of a game system, but we don’t agree. If the purpose of a game system is to have fun, this one actually looks the part. The Wii console comes in basic white, black and also red. Over the holiday season, there was a limited edition blue version at WalMart! Those won’t be in general release though.
The real beauty of the Wii console is that it’s so easy to use. Simply wave the controller in the air, and you control the play action on the screen. Nintendo improved the original Wii Mote controller, and incorporated MotionPlus technology to refine the movement of the game action when you swing the controller. The new controllers are called “RemotePlus” and they have MotionPlus built in. unlike some of the other game systems, the Wii system also has removable SD card storage, so you can store as many games as you like, and take the card with you to your friend’s house to play. You aren’t limited to buying a certain hard drive size when you first buy the system, as for other game consoles. That’s one reason the Xbox can be so much more expensive, because you have to buy larger hard drive sizes to accommodate certain games.
Speaking of expensive, the Wii is the lowest priced game console, which is a huge benefit. The best Wii prices today are well below $150, less than the original price when it was released. Affordable pricing is also the deal on Wii games, with some of Nintendo’s most popular sellers available for just $19.99. considering the great games, the workout routines you can do with the Wii Fit bundle, the streaming video from Netflix, and the online connectivity, it’s overall an excellent value for the price. The Wii continues to sell well, given all of these pluses.
Now for the minuses – there are a few downsides to the Wii, which isn’t for many gamers a big problem. The Wii does not have high definition graphics, which is a downside for many serious gamers. This is the reason many first person shooter games are not released for the Wii. The controller, mainly the way the controller works, is also not the best for some of the top action games. This is an issue Nintendo hopes to resolve, because it’s clear that once their user base reaches age twelve or thirteen, they move up to the Xbox or PlayStation systems. The Wii is not as easy to use for online multi-player games either. The Wii did finally come out with the features of playing online with other players, for Mario Kart and others, but seriously, most of the online players want to move a little beyond that kiddie level. (And how many kids will be playing online, is another question!) The average Wii user may or may not even be aware that they can hook the Wii into their home wireless network and gain the ability to download more games, and play online. Many owners may not even have wireless in their home. Which doesn’t mean they can’t have fun with it, they just can’t stream movies from Netflix or download games. More sophisticated gamers already know how to do this, with their Xbox and PlayStation systems.
Nintendo is banking however on making all that change. They’re releasing a new Wii U game console in 2012, that has high definition graphics and a game “controller” that is really more of a tablet computer. You can play games on the screen and with others, but also play games directly on the tablet controller. It’s pretty cool, and we’ll be reviewing it more here on Wii Console Deals. The Wii console best price right now is under $200, which is lower than the original price for the console when it came out. There have been a few frequent promotions, such as offering the console for $149, but that promotion has ended and prices are back to $199. But for this price, you still may want to buy before the holiday season kicks up. If you're trying to get a discount on the Wii console, your search for the best price for Wii console should also include considering what comes with the package. For the price, a bundle may be the best way to go, now that those prices are lower as well.

Be sure to search on a variety of online sellers in order to compare prices. The exact pieces included with your purchase should also be compared. If you're getting two controllers, for example, are you getting a savings as opposed to just buying a second one in an offline store? Can you purchase a game used and save the money? You have these kinds of options online when you shop for the Wii console. Compare apples to apples when buying, and you could see some significant savings.
