Finding A Good Ebay Wii Console Sale

July 29, 2010 · Posted in ebay wii console

It's true - there are sometimes great deals on EBay.  We know that many people have purchased their Wii console on EBay, or their Wii bundle as well.  Yet there are some drawbacks that might be leading people to think they are getting a deal, when in reality it's not so much better than you could find on Amazon or other online retailers.  Here's what to look out for:

1. Listings that say "42 Games Included" or some such statement. These sellers are simply adding up all the individual activities in ONE game and saying that's how many you are getting. For example, Wii Sports Resort has 12 different games. If you  get a Wii bundle that comes with Wii Sports Resort, you are getting ONE game not twelve!  If a seller is willing to BS you that way, why would buy from them??

2.  Bundles have a lot of extra junk thrown in that isn't worth much anyway. We've seen bundles that have a bunch of controller extensions - like a wheel, sword, rifle, and so on - where you put the controller into the holder and then can hold it the right way. Yet these things can be found at your local dollar store.  Why pay more because they're in a bundle?

3.  Wii bundles that have way more stuff than you need.  You are looking at bundles to save money - so why would you buy one that has games you'll never play? You're not saving money on those.

4.  Shipping charges are sky high to fool buyers into thinking they're getting a low price.  The bids might be low, but be sure to check out what the shipping costs are before you think you're getting a Wii deal.  Charging $25 and up for shipping means the seller is getting lower EBay fees, and a better price for the EBay Wii console than the auction price might indicate.  compare the TOTAL cost - product plus shipping - when you compare with other retailers.

5. Do you trust this seller? EBay has done a lot to stop sellers from cheating their buyers.  If you use PayPal to pay, you get some assurances.  But can you return the product if it's not right? Does the seller have legitimately high feedback scores?  Where are they located?  You have to use your best "buyer beware" sniff test before giving hundreds of dollars to someone you can't trust.

When all is said and done, often the final auction prices of some of the best Wii deals are selling for the exact same price you can find new at other online retailers.  So shop around and compare before you buy an EBay Wii console.
