Is A Wii Console On Ebay A Real Deal?

It's true - many buyers find good deals on EBay, so if you're thinking of buying a Wii, looking for a Wii console EBay deal makes sense. Or does it?  When you buy on EBay, you need to be aware of  what you're getting into, and make sure you consider whether you're really getting a better deal than you can find from other online retailers.  Here are some things to beware of when buying a Wii console on EBay:

1.  What are you really getting? Many sellers now have this practice of blaring out that you're getting dozens of games with your console - when in reality, you are getting ONE or TWO games, each of which has 12 activities!  So don't be fooled and think you're really getting more games. 

2. Are the item included truly worth the price?  There are some seller who are throwing in lots of accessories with their Wii deals, but the truth is you can find those cheap Wii accessories at the local dollar store. Make sure you know the value of what you're buying first.

3. What are the shipping costs? Some sellers avoid paying EBay fees by putting a high shipping price on their item.  If you're paying $30 or more for shipping, what is your total price going to be? After you add up all the costs, is it still a deal?

4. Can you trust the seller? EBay has taken a lot of steps to protect buyers, but it's not fail safe. Make sure your seller has a legitimately high feedback score.  Where are they located?  Do they offer a return policy?  Read some of the feedback, you might be glad you did. Sometimes a deal from someone you don't know turns out to be a ripoff.

5. Can you get just what you want? Some sellers load their Wii bundles with tons of accessories, multiple controller and games, etc.  First, do you really need all of those? And second, are you really getting a lower price than if you bought them all separately? Do your homework, it may be that you're not getting a good deal after all.

Auction sites like EBay can sometimes have good deals, but in the end, the final auction prices are almost the same as you'd pay at retailers like Amazon - without the security you'd have from a big store. Be sure to shop around, and don't just assume that a Wii console on EBay is always a deal.
