I bought this for my 7yr old son. During the summer he tends to eat and not want to play outside. The Wii and all the exercise games have made him much more active for the first time ever I dont mind him playing his games.

Got rid of cable - only have Wii

by Rev. Jason Santa from on 2010-08-25
After years of getting robbed by the cable company we had enough and got rid of cable TV. We bought the Wii system and have enjoyed it very much! My wife and 5 year old child never get tired of the games and we all enjoy watching movies on it from Netflix. The system is easy to set up and you can be using it in a matter of a few minutes. The games are fun, the graphics are great, and the extra features like the news channel and weather has me not missing TV at all. Get off the couch and get a Wii.

best "tech-toy" we've purchased - for ages 3-103

by Chel Micheline from SW Florida on 2010-08-19
We bought our Wii in 2007- my husband went down to Best Buy in the middle of the night and waited on a line that snaked around the building in the hopes of maybe scoring one of these elusive consoles. He DID score one, and we've been playing almost daily (which is pretty amazing for a console and games that are more than three years old!) since then. A snap to set up, incredibly easy to use. The Wii-mote is a game control like no other- simply wave it like a magic wand and the sensor bar, which comes with the console, picks up the signal and communicates your position and movement to the Wii so that you can twirl, swoop, smash, lunge, jump your heart away as you play. Our whole family has gotten a lot out of this console. I'm 36, female, and NOT a gamer, and I've found myself gravitating towards puzzle games, fishing (!!), the Endless Ocean series, brain teasers, and the Wii Sports Franchise, my daughter (who was a little over one year old when the Wii arrived) has always been able to play along and now is addicted to the many games out for preschoolers (Dora/Diego, the different Disney games- especially Princess and the Frog, Carnival Games, Wii Sports + Wii Sports Resort) and my husband, in his 40's, does everything from Zelda to playing poker on the Wii. We spent a significant amount of time playing together, but we also play alone. I think, in many ways, the Wii has become our "family board game". It's a life saver in summer and during Florida Hurricane Season, when it's rainy and too hot to go outside. We can all gather together and get our mind off the gloomy weather for a bit. I've always had game consoles since I was a little kid- everything from Atari 2600 (which I MOURNED until the Wii came into my life), Super Nintendo, Xbox. The Wii has not only shocked me with how much use it's getting, but the fact it's STILL getting so much use- it's novelty has NOT worn off at all, which is rare for any technology, especially game consoles. I can't recommend this enough. Definitely a GREAT investment- instead of spending $20-50 for each member of your family on a toy/gadget that loses it's luster, get the Wii and make everyone happy for a long time. And you will be more than ready to go with both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Even though we've had both games for a while (we've had Wii Sports forever since it came with our Wii), they are still the games my family always goes back to.

Even an old gal can do it!

This is a wonderful, fun product. I have heard of Wii for a number of years, but never tried one. I wanted something that I could use for exercise at home, to fit into my schedule. Well, the Wii with the Fitness package fits the bill. It is fun, challenging, has loads of variety, and make me smile and laugh as I exercise. And, most importantly, this almost 60 year-old could hook it up and figure it out all by myself!!!!! I look forward to using my Wii everyday!

The best Wii bundle deals have the right combination of items that you want to have with your console, and not to many extras that only drive up the price but aren't things you really want. For example, some bundles include accessories like handles to your controller, that you can otherwise find at the dollar store - why add them to a bundle for an extra twenty or thirty dollars?  Or, a bundle might include a game that you want, but other games you won't be playing much. Is it a deal to get those if you don't really want them?

On the  other hand, getting  a bundle that has games you'll love to play, like Wii Sports Resort, and accessories you need, like the Wii MotionPlus, means you're getting those items now at a 5-15% discount or more.  Be sure to figure out if what's included are items you really want, or just added to increase the price.

The Trick To Find The Best Wii Bundles

July 7, 2010 · Posted in wii bundles · 2 Comments

Shoppers looking for the Nintendo Wii console have no doubt come across the Wii bundles being offered by retailers everywhere.  It can get truly confusing - do I need two controllers? Three? How about nunchucks?  Should I get the extra game? Do I need all of those? If I don't get it now, will I regret it later? Am I really saving money with this?

The trick to finding Wii bundles that fit your needs is to start with the basic system. The base Wii console system include the console, a controller and nunchuck. Nearly all units now also come with Wii Sports.  As of last year, Nintendo released its new accessory, the Wii MotionPlus, which helps players refine their movement when using the motion sensing controller. This isn't included with all systems yet, although Nintendo has released its own bundle which includes the MotionPlus, and its new game, Wii Sports Resort, which requires the MotionPlus add on.

So stay with  me here: The Nintendo Wii bundle now on the market has the console, controller and nunchuck, Wii MotionPlus, as well as both Wii Sports and Wii Sport Resort games.  This is a good package to get started. But you may need another controller if you want to play with a second person.  Here's where the bundles get interesting.

If you shop around on Amazon or EBay, you'll find a wide variety of bundles with all manner of combinations.  You can get systems with two or four controllers. You can get systems that have the Wii Fit bundles with the Wii console, along with fitness games.  You can also find bundle deals that have the kitchen sink - Wii Fit, a variety of other games like Mario Kart, extra controllers, MotionPlus, and so on.  In order to figure out which is the best Wii bundle for you, you need to figure out what you're planning to us it for, and how many people are likely to be using it.  If you have a family of four, for example, will you be referee when more than two family members want to play? Consider extra controllers.  Do you  have younger kids? Make sure the games are appropriate (which by the way both Wii Sports games are fine for all ages).  Are you planning to get the Wii to workout at home? The Wii Fit bundle is available everywhere, and sometimes has other non Fit games with it too.

Once you have figure out what pieces you need, you can check the prices.  A controller plus nunchuck sells for around $30 as separate pieces.  Many if not most Wii games retail for $49.99.  If you add up the pieces and compare that to the bundle price, are you savingany  money?  Most likely you are.  Bundle prices can be ten or twenty percent off suggested retail.  But if you're not saving any money, maybe start out with fewer pieces, and add on later.  You can always buy the accessories and games you want at a later time!

If you have a budget for your purchase, you can easily find a bundle that fits your needs. The trick to buying the right Wii bundle is to make sure you buy the right one for you.

Wii Bundles Best Price Now

June 26, 2010 · Posted in Wii Deals · Comment

Last week, we posted about the latest Nintendo Wii Console price discount - the price for the console plus a controller, nunchuk and Wii Sports game went down to just $149 at Amazon and other major retailers.

What we didn't talk about in detail was the latest new pricing for the white or black Nintendo Wii console, combined in some of the Wii bundles best deals.  For the price of $199 buyers get the console in either color, a controller and nunchuck, the Wii MotionPlus add-on for the controller, and both Wii Sports, and the new, updated version, Wii Sports Resort.

The Wii bundles are really the best way to go. MotionPlus by itself is about $20 retail. an extra controller is about $40.  and Wii sports Resort does not come with the standard console either, so that's another $50 as well.  Adding all those costs to a basic console, which is about $180 as of this writing, you're going to be well over the $199 you would pay to get everything in one package.

Now you can also get the console in black, so that's a great deal if you want to get one for a second room, or a gift, or you've been waiting for the black console to come out!

You'll see also that this game console consistently gets great reviews.  The fact that it is fun to use for all ages, means families as well as college kids as well as seniors as well as fitness nuts all get in there and play.  We even know some 80 year olds who love Wii Sports Resort Frisbee!  There are now controllers too for even the youngest kids, so they can not have to worry about all of the buttons and so on, which can be hard for them to control.  There are nunchucks too for young kids, so they are not as dangerous and prone to being swung around at other people.

If you've been holding out, the bundle deals at these rices are definitley  worth the wait.

Over 5 Million Wii Sold Last Quarter

May 6, 2010 · Posted in Wii Deals · Comment

Nintendo reports that over five million Wii consoles were sold in the last four months, it's still a huge seller.  No doubt these Wii sales were boosted by Nintendo lowering the price to $199 from $249.  Still, Nintendo continues to offer great deals, as it's now including Wii Sports Resort and the Wii MotionPlus controller accessory as part of the basic Wii bundle package at that lower price.

Retailers are also discounting the Wii console, to sell existing units prior to holiday inventory. Now that the Wii is also going to be offered in black, there's added incentive to sell existing units so that holiday shoppers later this year will have a greater choice.  Great Wii prices continue to lure new buyers.

Part of the attraction now for Wii is also the addition of Netflix, which rolled out this year.  While Netflix was already available for other game console users, over a million Nintendo Wii users now have accessed the Netflix service on the Wii.  It continues to be a popular addition.

However, it's clear that many Wii users don't know about the availability of the Wii Internet Channel, being able to use the Wii online through a wireless home network.  It's easy to find instructions online at Nintendo, for how to connect your Wii to their online services. Once online, you can also download WiiWare games, access weather, news and the Web, see game previews, and play multi user games online with friends.  There are many more reasons that the Wii will continue to be a big seller.

What’s In The Wii Bundle Package

May 4, 2010 · Posted in Wii Bundle · Comment

Still searching for the best Wii deal on a Nintendo Wii console?  As demand has slowed, as many people who wanted a Wii have already purchased, but some are still looking to buy at the right price.  With everyone looking to save money, there are some excellent deals available right now.

For example, Nintendo just announced that it will  be selling its basic Wii bundle for just $199. The bundle includes Wii Sports Resort, the controller, nunchuck and the Wii MotionPlus accessory, which alone is a $24.99 retail value.  The MotionPlus accessory clicks into the controller, and adds stability and smoothness to your stroke when you use the WiiMote controller.  As everyone knows of course, the Wii has the wand-style controller, but it has always lacked something in the area of fine control – like trying to hit a target, or make a swing of the arm come out smoothly.  The Wii MotionPlus was designed to help make your aim more accurate.  It’s a great addition when you’re playing games like ping pong, golf, or throwing flying disks in Wii Sports Resort.

The other types of bundles available are also great deals.  The price you pay when you combine items is always lower, but you can find Dance Dance Revolution bundles, or sports games like Madden NFL, included in bundle packages.  You can save a lot by buying items together at once.

But if you don’t want to spend hundreds up front, even if you’re saving, the basic Wii bundle package is an excellent deal, especially with the added value of the MotionPlus.   It’s a great time to buy, before the holidays head our way, and prices go up while inventory goes down. Today, you can basically choose your own system, and shopping online makes it even easier to see what’s available.  Try bidding at online auction sites like eBay, where Wii prices are all over the map, but you can see what they recently sold for as well.  You can often find a great deal.

Now that you can also use your Netflix subscription to watch streaming movies on the Wii console, you can actually save money on moviegoing too – your Wii becomes a total home entertainment center.

Saving money is on everyone’s  mind, but so if having fun. By getting in on the fun with a Wii today, you will make a great investment in home entertainment.

The State of the Wii Console Today

April 29, 2010 · Posted in wii console · Comment

The big splash that was the Nintendo Wii console a few years back, has clealry subsided. "Real" gamers proclaimed its many faults (like lack of hi def video resolution, and the fact that it was based on the kiddie-style Game Cube), even as millions of non-gamers snapped it up to get on board with with Wii Fit balance board and exercise games, families started to play together, and classic ancient arcade style games lured back old timers like yours truly.

But now what's next? Wii fans wonder. Last year, Wii games hit in the top five sellers in North America, the Wii Fit was a huge success, but now what will draw buyers in the next months and years? The holidays are around the corner, so what could be the next big thing for the Wii console?

It's likely to be the games that are the draw. Right now, items like Rock Band have already come out with The Beatles, and Rock Band Green Day Edition is on its way next. For games, Super Mario Galaxy Two has been on the must have waiting list, due to come out in June of 2010. And everyone is asking where is the next version of The Legend Of Zelda, and will Link lose his sword?

Nintendo has come out with some great technology, including the MotionPlus controller accessory, which helps steady a player's use of the controller. This has many applications, but so far, not too many games are taking advantage of it. Swordplay is an obvious use. Nintendo has also hinted at releaseing something like a biofeedback accessory, something that will measure your brain waves. One can only imagine what you could do with that, expecially playing online! Seriously though, biofeedback might lead the world to be a calmer, pleasanter place if we all worked on our alpha state.

We've heard about the Wii console being used in senior citizens homes, and also as part of physical therapy regimens in hospitals and outpatient clinics. But what's next for families? Or serious gamers? The rumor on the street is there will be a high definition add on of some kind coming up. This seems the only way to lure the fanatical gamers (and it probably won't work either). But seriously, Nintendo has made a name for itself getting buyers that would never even have given the Playstation or Xbox a second look. What can Nintendo offer them?

It was good to see that finally, Netflix offered access to streaming video through the Wii, although despite early rumors, Wii was last and not first among consoles to get it. It's fine, if you aren't picky about high definition, works great, except for some timing delays. What can you expect online eh?

And WiiWare is still going strong, with lots of great offerings. (But does Nintendo know how many of its buyers don't even know it exists, and if they do find out, have no idea how to make it work?) Accessing WiiWare and the learning curve involved is probably not getting Nintendo the results it would like.

So far, there doesn't seem to be anything on the horizon for the Nintendo Wii that will take players' breath away. Stay tuned though, and perhaps they'll suprise us.

Wii Bundles – Best Deals

April 27, 2010 · Posted in wii console · Comment

Street prices for Nintendo Wii really haven't dropped much even considering that the holiday season is long past. Finding good deals on Wii systems though is not hard - the best places to look are online auctions, or discount online superstores like Amazon. The best online Wii deals, though, are Wii bundles. if you're looking for the best price for Wii consoles, for example, then consider buying a bundle, which includes the controllers you'll need, but also great games to play.

Wii console deals are available online, mostly through auction sites like EBay. Getting a deal on Wii console means you are going to save money from the $199 list price, and the fact is you can find some discount prices if you know where to shop, or how to scour the Internet for top prices. Still, given the vast amount of inventory on eBay, even compared to Amazon, you'll find a much bigger selection and probably the precise system you want to buy. the best way to save the most on Wii is buy Wii bundles online. The reason for this is that because bundles include all of the pieces, there is a discount for the total system, compared to what you would pay for each individual piece if purchased separately. Price out the pieces you want yourself, and you'll see you can save 20% or more if you buy it all at once in a Wii bundle.

Some of the games you can get with Wii bundles are Wii Sports Resort, plus the Wii MotionPlus controller; Mario Kart bundle; DJ Hero with Turntable bundle; the Wii Fit system plus games; and much much more. Be sure to read all of the details with any listing. Some items may be described incorrectly, or exaggerated. For example, some bundles include Wii Sports Resort, but the listing will say it comes with "44 games" - because they are all included in Wii Sports Resort game! So make sure you know what controllers, games accessories and other items are included with the Wii console in a bundle deal.
