UPDATE: WOW Wii prices are now discounted by several retailers, down to just $199 for the Nintendo Wii console, including a controller and nunchuk plus Wii Sports Resort and Wii MotionPlus accessory! There's also a GREAT new red Wii bundle just in time for the holidays!
This is the Wii console best price anywhere for brand new consoles right now. (Remember that buying online from some sellers like Amazon will save shipping and/or tax so the final price can be lower than in local stores.) You can compare prices at Amazon, by clicking on links to third party sellers that also advertise right on the main site. (There is also a Wii bundle 4 player package deal you can check out at Amazon too.)
Wii prices had started originally at $250, then last year Nintendo dropped the Wii console price to $199 to generate sales. Now, Nintendo has just released a Wii bundle which comes in either white or black, and includes a controller, nunchuk, but also the Wii MotionPlus controller accessory. The MotionPlus is a $20 accessory that helps fine tune the controller's motion, so players can get a smoother action during play. This newer bundle is $199 at big retailers.
A few months ago Nintendo offered the Wii console for $149 to get rid of inventory of the single consoles, before offering the new bundle, which is the latest Wii Console deal which includes the extras. But keep in mind that this system, is the exact same Wii controller, with the same Internet access and Wii Ware offerings, including access to Netflix on the Wii, that any and all Wii controllers have.
Wii Price
When you're shopping to find the Wii price that is lowest, there are plenty of places to look. First, always shop online, because retail stores might have Wii for sale but they won't have the lowest prices available. Online, you can take advantage of deals on sites like Amazon, or EBay auctions. On Amazon for example, shop the additional sellers, not just the Amazon link - they usually have several sellers offering the same items for less. You can also add accessories when you buy, which will often add up to the best deals on Wii console. We recommend you compare prices at Amazon, auction sites and big box retailers such as Best Buy, WalMart and Target. The big retailers may have competitive deals or one time discounts, they will try to keep competitive pricing at least as low as the current Wii prices on the market. The best consistent deals though are through the online retailers.
Wii Bundles
Another great way to save is to look for Wii bundles. Getting a Wii console as part of a Wii bundle means you're getting the console plus additional controller, nunchucks, accessories and games all in the same package. The beauty of this is that you not only get all the parts at once that you'll need to play, but you'll be saving money. The price for a bundle is nearly always lower than if you bought all those pieces separately.
Wii Bundle Deals
As a result, you can find Wii bundle deals online too at rock bottom prices. Some of the best Wii bundle deals are on sites that help you put your own together. On Amazon, you can choose additional components and get free shipping and no tax to boot. On WalMart's site they have a single price then you get to choose what accessories and games you want to be included with your bundle. And of course Nintendo Wii Ebay deals abound, you just need to make sure your seller is on the up and up, and you get to return the product if it isn't what you bought.
When you shop for Wii bundles, make sure you are getting what is advertised, and that the sales copy doesn't try to obscure how many games you are actually getting for example. Also look for multiple controller/nunchuck sets. Adding a controller and nunchuck is about $80 for each set, so if you can find them lower as part of a bundle or when you buy as part of a package, you should really consider getting extra controllers. There are also controller sets that include the Wii MotionPlus which is another $20 retail value.
Is The Wii Price Going Lower?
Nintendo company stock is down as a result of Wii sales that are lower than expected despite that the company lowered the Wii price. Sales are slumping and it sounds like it took the company by surprise.
What would be the reason for slowing Wii sales? Well, market saturation might be one reason. Gamers have a choice between the Wii console, PS3 and Xbox of course. How many serious gamers will go for the Wii?
And relying on non-traditional gamers also has its pitfalls, since many individual buyers might be interested in the Wii Fit for example, but not at that price. Same goes for seniors who are using the Wii for exercise and fun, the price tag might be putting them off, even if it has been lowered somewhat
People are not buying as much as they used to either, cutting costs and expenses, and a game console for folks who aren't die hard gamers might not be high on the must buy list. When the economy is bad, this type of expensive purchase is out of reach for a percentage of the population that normally would be buying
Profits are down, and Nintendo's income is lower as a result, what impact does that have for the buyer? Sales of the PS3 are up too because Sony lowered their prices to compete, so it seems like the competition is wising up too.
Now, buyers are going to be looking for more new games and game titles to take advantage of the new electronics, like the MotionPlus and the Wii Fit balance board. Will there be price cuts for games? Since most are at the $50 mark, lower Wii prices on games as well as consoles would be good for consumers.
